Shi Yu Chen on Nikkei

Shi Yu Chen, my long-time friend and business partner, was featured in the Nikkei Shimbun recently. Sy used to be a rock star in Japan many years ago before he got into the fashion, food and design business. I first met him when I was teaching a course called Strategic Marketing at the MBA program at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. He was my best student, and together we opened a boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Sy started a company called Creative Intelligence Associates (not related to the US CIA) that has done ground-breaking work for Fast Retailing (Uniqlo), the Gap, and many other famous global brands.

I am an advisor to Sy's company and am happy that we have maintained our friendship that started several decades ago.

For those of you who read Japanese, I am sure that you will enjoy this article from the Nikkei.
